ARLES: " Little Rome of the Gauls "

City of art and history, among which the Roman heritage (arenas, theater, cryptoportiques, Constantin's thermal baths, Necropolis of Alyscamps) and the romanesque heritage (Portal and cloister of the cathedral saint Trophime) are registered on the world heritage of the humanity by Unesco.
Altough bigger municipality of France (thanks to Julius Caesar, who to thank it for his support offered her the lands seized from her rival, Marseille) Arles kept a human-sized historic center, full of charm, at once simple and refined, elegant and popular, which makes it particularly pleasant to visit.

Source of inspiration of numerous artists among which Van Gogh, Gauguin and Picasso, it now attracts photographers from around the world at international meetings of photography  and plans the creation of a center dedicated to the image, the only one of its kind in France.
Many colorful festivals enliven it throughout the year such as the feast of costume or the feast of herdsmen in which every 3 years for over 100 years Arles elects his Queen ... without forgetting the two férias yearly, during which the city lives in the Spanish time ...
